
Omega Psi Phi Scholarship
The Chi Tau Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., in partnership with the Friendship Foundation, Inc., is pleased to announce our 2025 Scholarship Program for male graduating seniors that are attending college full-time in the Fall of 2025. This program provides financial support to young African American males in our community who have demonstrated excellence in academics, participation in extracurricular activities, and community involvement. The Chi Tau Chapter is proud and humbled to have offered our scholarship program for the past twenty-one (21) years.


Scholarship Application
The following guidelines explain the application submission and selection process. Qualifying applications must be electronically submitted in complete form by Friday, April 18, 2025 by 11:59pm.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
This is a competitive scholarship in the amount of $1,000 or more, available to African American male candidates.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:

Must be a 2025 Orange County high school graduate with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.

Must be enrolling in an accredited post-secondary institution as a full-time student for the Fall 2025-2026 term.

Must have demonstrated achievement through extracurricular and community activities.

Must complete the Application Packet as instructed and submit it by April 18, 2025 at 11:59pm.

Application Requirements:

Essay: A 500 word, type-written, double-spaced essay on the topic: "What impact do you believe that Social Media is having On Mental Health and Why is it Important to Address this issue?”.

Student Biography and Picture: Prepare a biography that includes a statement of future goals. A digitized professional photo (suit and tie) is required. The photo should be in jpeg format at 300 dpi resolution quality or better. (Example: A yearbook photo or a headshot photo).

Your signature on the application grants Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., permission to publish your name, picture, scholarship amount, and personal biographical information.

Transcript: An official electronic high school transcript with a cumulative grade point average.

SAT/ACT Scores: A copy of your SAT and/or ACT scores reported on the official electronic high school transcript.

Letters of Recommendation: Submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation from a high school counselor, employer, church leader, community leader, mentor, etc. The letter should include how long the individual has known the applicant and in what capacity. Letters from family members will not be accepted.

Submission of Application: Qualifying applications must be electronically submitted in complete form by Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:59 pm. Hand-delivered packets by applicants given to fraternity members will not be accepted.
The Scholarship Award Process:

Selection Methodology: The Scholarship Committee will review all submittals for completeness and clarity of the information provided. Essays and Autobiographies will then be reviewed for content and the thoughtfulness described within. Grades, transcripts, community service, and other required information associated with each applicant will be considered. After creating this comparative full picture of the applicants, the selection(s) of applicants will proceed until the full funding available for that year is exhausted.

Scholarship Award: If selected to receive a scholarship, the applicant will receive a notification via the email provided on the application. Applicants who were not selected to receive a scholarship will also receive notification via email. THE DECISION BY THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE IS FINAL.

Receipt of the Scholarship: Upon completion of college registration and Fall 2025 enrollment, the student must submit an enrollment schedule issued by the Registrar’s Office. This must be submitted digitally to xtscholarship@gmail.com. The scholarship check will be mailed directly to the student at the mailing address provided in the “student information” section of the scholarship application unless otherwise notified (by email). Scholarships not claimed by November 1, 2025, will be invalid and not awarded.
